Who will contribute the thousands of shoebox gifts our area team plans to collect for needy children next Christmas?
-
Most of the boxes will come from churches that have made Operation Christmas Child one of their (official or unofficial) benevolence projects.
In many congregations this becomes a bigger "deal" each year as more members catch the enthusiasm.
-
Many will come from groups — businesses, clubs, and organizations; sometimes even informal groups of friends —
whose members donate boxes and encourage others to do so.
-
A significant number will come from individuals who, all on their own, make the effort to pack one or more boxes and take them to a Drop-off Center.
-
And let us not forget the businesses and individuals who contribute bulk quantities of "filler items," which
are vitally important in making sure each box is completely filled.
-
Besides that, OCC-SCPA receives (and needs) many cash contributions. The money is used to purchase additional filler items and to defray transportation costs.
